The purpose of this blog is to offer myself a sweet release from the pent up 30 Seconds to Mars thoughts that are constantly floating around my head, as well as spare the sanity of those around me who don't care to listen and who don't understand. Here I will post music videos, interviews, pictures, quotes, and anything else my heart desires.
You've probably seen some of these before, but some of them are new. Or new to me anyway. They're obviously from an old photoshoot, cuz we've seen similar ones before. They were just posted on Shannon's Army on facebook. I chose my faves to post here. If you want to see all of them then check out the Shannon's Army facebook page.
I love the ones in which the guys are goofing off.
I'm going to try not to post all the videos, but it might be hard for me to choose, so we'll see what happens :)
And sorry for the horrible video. I normally try and film the concerts I go to, so I usually don't jump very much, but I was REALLY in the jumping mood this concert, despite the fact that I was filming. Plus, security was enforcing the no filming rule so I attempted to make it look more like I was taking pics, which meant moving my camera around a lot more often...
First off. Here is Vox Populi. You'll notice at the beginning of the song, Jared starts singing the wrong verse, so he kind of mumbles through it, and then sings it again where it actually belongs. It's pretty great.
I kind of spent a lot of time on photoshop today, playing around with the concert photos I took. Here are the results. And I'm sure there'll be more cuz I haven't even made it through half my photos yet.
Jared Leto. He is often considered the frontman of the band with his pretty boy good looks, sense of humor and acting ability. He's responsible for the lead vocals, but he also plays an array of instruments, most commonly the guitar. He writes 30 STMs songs, and directs their music videos/short films under the pseudonym Bartholomew Cubbins. Fact: He's the younger brother of Shannon Leto and is an amazing actor.
And
Shannon Leto. That's right, the last name is not just a coincidence. Shannon is the older brother of Jared. He plays the drums for the band and never have I seen someone who plays the drums as hardcore as Shannon. He's quite the funny guy and there's nothing better than the Leto brothers together. Fact: He broke away from his drums to play his song "L490" on guitar and it's brilliant.
And
Tomo Milicevic. Tomo plays lead guitar for the band. He knows how to rock long hair and is, of course, a funny guy. If there's one thing better than the Leto brothers together, it's the Leto brothers plus Tomo. The three of them together is how it should be. Fact: He started his musical career playing the violin, and he's Croatian!

Evolution of a Rock Band...
Or "Revolution," As Jared likes to call it.
I read something recently about someone who used to be a fan of 30 Seconds to Mars but claimed that the band had "sold out" and was no longer sincere. If you don't know 30 STM, then you probably don't know what this person is referring to. Let's just say that the band started out as a pretty solid rock band, but as time passed and subsequent albums were released, their sound changed from album to album. A Beautiful Lie held a slightly different sound than their first album, and This Is War displayed a drastic change in sound from A Beautiful Lie, switching to a more electronic rock feel. This is where some people believe the band "sold out." All I have to say regarding the aforementioned person is that I appreciate the fact that the band was willing to share their new sound with the fans. I know a lot of bands who maintain the same sound through out their entire career, which is fine. But I think it's more probable that people experience different things in life that influence and change the sound of their music. I would rather a band create the music they feel reflects them best, and be courageous and willing enough to share it with the fans, versus a band that keeps the same sound just to please fans. I believe that is the epitome of insincerity. Experience the evolution of a rock band:
Capricorn, from their first album "30 Seconds to Mars"
A Beautiful Lie, from their second album "A Beautiful Lie"
Closer to the Edge, from their third album "This is War"
